The Cybertruck is one of Tesla’s newest vehicles, their take on a normal family SUV and pickup truck, with a starting price $79,990 and going up to $101,985. According to the Tesla website, the Cybertruck has an 11,000 pound towing capacity, an estimated range of 325 miles, and goes from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
The Cybertruck is made of flat stainless steel sheets, an unusual design that Tesla states “helps to reduce dents, damage and long-term corrosion,” making repairs quick and simple. The Amour Glass windows lining the truck can resist class 4 hail or the impact of a baseball bat at 70 mph.
As an electric vehicle, the Cybertruck is appealing to those wishing to save money on gas, and it has a surprisingly remarkable performance for its big size. However, like all cars, the Cybertruck has its downsides. The truck has huge blind spots, the stainless steel outside is prone to smudging, there is no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, something that is very useful for navigation and music.
Additionally, if you don’t like being the center of attention, the Cybertruck is not for you. The truck is one of the most recognizable vehicles on the roads today.
On January 1, outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas, a Tesla Cybertruck was found engulfed in flames, with the driver fatally shot on the inside the car.
No bystanders were killed, but a couple of nearby people sustained minor injuries. The driver has since been identified as a highly decorated Army Master Sergeant Matthew Alan Livelsberger, according to the New York Times.
Livelsberger served in Afghanistan and was part of the Special Forces from January 2006 to March 2011. He then served in the National Guard from March 2011 to July 2012 before joining U.S. Army Special Operations, where he was based in Stuttgart, Germany.
Livelsberger had been dealing with mental issues for the past couple of years. Hhe told his past girlfriend Alicia Arritt, “My life has been a personal hell for the last year.” (AP News)
Two letters that Livelsberger wrote have been found. In these notes he shared that he needed to “cleanse” his mind “of the brothers I’ve lost and relieve myself of the burden of the lives I took.” (AP News)
