As finals swiftly approach at Lake Forest Academy and the community nears the summer holidays, motivation gets harder. The repetitive cycle of oscillating motivation calls for an expert in the field to guide the community; published author, podcast radio host, blogger and speaker Rob Dial specializes in personal growth and life coaching. Dial created the number one mindset podcast in the world, The Mindset Mentor. Dial releases new episodes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday that encompass topics from establishing a solid morning routine to strategies for becoming a billionaire. The Mindset Mentor is available on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube.
When he was 19 years old, Dial started in the sales business at Cutco Cutlery Corporation, selling knives door-to-door. Dial said, “It’s one of the hardest jobs you could possibly have, but the people who succeed at it end up being extremely successful. You have to work really hard for your paycheck! Cutco is very big on personal growth, so for six years while I was with the company, I was in a bubble of personal growth, pushing myself to get better and better. When I left at 22, I had personally trained over 2,000 sales reps in the company. It was a fast-track to growing up and learning skills for life.” While at Cutco, Dial was promoted to help run the franchise and grew it to a multi-million dollar business. Utilizing these valuable skills, Dial created his second seven-figure business at 23, an e-commerce company inspired by his life coaching and hosting of the MWF (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) Motivation Podcast.
Through The Mindset Mentor, Dial has had the opportunity to interview extremely successful people such as Mel Robbins, Hal Elrod, Josh Trent and many others. Dial has coached famous entrepreneurs, journalists, teenagers and parents. The Mindset Mentor has over 1500 episodes that give crystal clear advice on all aspects of life, especially how to overcome a lack of motivation.
When asked how LFA students can find motivation, overcome stress and take control of their mindsets, Dial explained, “Start each day with uplifting messages and personal development.” By doing so, one is automatically in a better mood and inspired to achieve more during the day.” Dial added, “Invest the time to discover what you truly want to do, and reassess it often.” By knowing one’s true pursuit, such as a desire to go to a good college, the person is reminded of their goal and gains the motivation they need to accomplish it.” Next, Dial said, “Write it down! With pen and paper, not online; journal daily and write your goals.” When one visualizes their goals, those goals become more of a reality, and the person is inspired to work for them. Lastly, Dial noted, “Look for ways to share your knowledge and experience with others.” By seeing the effect their knowledge has on others, one will be prompted to work to accomplish their goals more often, as they know their efforts will have a positive outcome.
At LFA, we advocate for mental health awareness and academic success simultaneously; however, little guidance is given on how to achieve a balance of both. By listening to The Mindset Mentor, that guidance is given and much more. Dial teaches that crucial balance fosters motivation and inspires listeners to achieve their goals in all aspects of life.
