Girls Golf:
This year’s girls golf team has reached a record high of 22 players. They have ten seniors, and four of those ten have been on their team since their freshman year, the founding of the team. They have also already wrapped up their season with ISL the team had an outstanding season placing second. Their overall record was 6-3, with two of these losses the Caxys only lost by one stroke.
Boys Golf:
The Boys Varsity Golf has now gone back to back after another ISL Championship. They won most of their conference matchups throughout the year and took on several public school powerhouses. They beat Carmel and won more conference matches. With a solid tournament play placing 4th out of 14 in one and the other placing 8th out of 15.
Girls Swimming:
As the Girls Varsity Swim season winds down with only two of their eleven meets remaining, although not record-breaking (which has become common for the LFA girls team), the team has once again triumphed over a winning season. With two losses, one tie at the tri-meet, and six wins, the team was able to replicate their successes of past seasons. Three-year varsity swimmer Saathvika Narayan ‘26 said, “We have a really solid group of girls, all committed to working hard for this team. I think that’s where all our wins come from.”
Girls Cross Country:
This year, Girls Cross Country has had a fairly successful fall so far, with the team placing first during an early season meet at LFA. Maria Retelewski ‘25 came in at first place overall, Andrea Fernandez ‘25 in second place, Adriana Fernandez ‘25 in fourth place and Abby Welsh ‘28 in fifth. The girls trained for the ISL Championship, which took place on October 17th. Lily Botero Girls Cross Country Captain ‘25 said, “It is so much fun!” and one of her favorite parts of the team is that she feels like, “We have a good mix of team bonding throughout the season,” emphasizing the strength of the team on and off the course.
Boys Cross Country:
The Boys Cross Country has seen measurable improvement throughout the year. One of their biggest races this year was the LFA invitational where they placed 3rd out of 18 with captain Teddy Berghammer being one of the seven top finishers. That is one of the many meets they had success in, and that is likely a result of the constant work the team puts out during practice.
Girls Volleyball:
The Girls Volleyball team has seen a major improvement in the program this year. The team is 6-6 overall and 2-2 in the conference which is already much better than last fall’s 4-11 record. They closed their season off with ISL.
Boys Soccer:
Boys Varsity Soccer had a memorable and eventful year finishing the season off with a record of 10-6-1. The team was able to close the year on a high note, sweeping Latin in the final 2 games. In addition to team victories, members of the team were honored by the Independent School League (ISL) with Eric Jotkus ‘25 winning ISL Second Team. Midfielder Drew Cobin ‘26 shared “It was really exciting to be a part of a team with a bunch of great guys and we did a great job overall while also growing as a team.”As the season concludes, the team feels optimistic about future seasons.
Boys Prep Hockey:
As of right now, the Boys Prep Hockey record stands at 7-3. Captain Josh Lachapelle ‘25 shared, “The team is off to a pretty good start, but [we] should be doing better.” So far the team has traveled to Ridley College, which is right outside of Niagara Falls. The team played in a tournament where they made it all the way to the finals, unfortunately losing 4-3 to Upper Canada College. They are optimistic about their season ahead, looking forward to proving themselves once again this year in the MPHL.
Girls Field Hockey:
Going into the state playoffs, Girls Varsity Field Hockey sits at a record of 11-7, coming off a 2-1 performance at their tournament in Ann Arbor. The girls rounded out their season on a high note, defeating rivals North Shore 5-0 on senior night. The team aims to make a run in the playoffs, capping off one of their best seasons of the past four years. Captain Audrey Danz ‘25 said, “This year has been especially enjoyable as I feel we have truly come together as a team.”
Girls Tennis:
With their season coming to a close, Girls Tennis has achieved a season decorated with success. Inside the ISL conference, they’ve only suffered one loss, attesting to their accomplished performances. Earning third place in the conference tournament, and placing many of their singles and doubles players, LFA tennis once again established itself as a powerhouse of the North Shore. Sophia Delise ‘26, who placed 1st for her second singles states, “Our team has done really well this year placing third, and I’m really looking forward to see what we can achieve in the years ahead.
