Boys Prep Hockey:
Boys Prep Hockey had their first of many Midwestern Prep Hockey League (MPHL) weekends in Vermont. This weekend, LFA went 2-2 wrapping up with two wins. The team “battled very hard throughout the weekend, and our last two games were the best,” Hockey Captain Josh Lachapelle said.
Boys Hockey:
The Boys Varsity Hockey Team quickly jumped into games after only a few days of practice. Although the team had a rough start to the season, losing back-to-back games, Captain Santi Delgado ‘25 expressed his optimism, “This is a long year, and we’ll have plenty of opportunities to win more games.”
Girls Hockey:
As the winter season approaches, the Girls Varsity Hockey team begins preparing for the new season. With a new coach, Erin Stoney, a previous North Shore Warhawks coach and strength and conditioning professional, the team is excited to prove themselves on the ice again this year.
Co-Ed Squash:
The Co-Ed Squash Team has entered its second season as a winter sports team at LFA. With the five squash courts in the new athletic center, the team looks forward to “making the program larger than it has ever been,” Hamza Jafri ‘26, a squash player, said. The team hopes to display their talents and skills in front of their fellow Caxys on LFA soil for the first time.
Co-Ed Chance:
Chance, LFA’s cheer/dance team, will start rehearsals shortly. Angela Yuan ‘27, a member of Chance, shared, “I am looking forward to choreographing dances with Chance.”
Boys Basketball:
Boys Varsity Basketball, starting in late November, hopes to have a big year. The team is schedules to play against local powerhouses and various schools from outside Illinois. “The team is eager to compete against someone wearing a different colored jersey,” Head Coach Kyle Koncz said, expressing his excitement and optimism for the team.
Girls Basketball:
Girls Varsity Basketball approaches this season with loads of anticipation and excitement. Although their first home game won’t be until January, the team looks forward to exemplifying the Caxy spirit and grit on the court this winter. With many new recruits and underclassmen players stepping up, the team seems optimistic; Lindsay Farbman ‘26 stated, “I’m so excited for the season; I can’t wait to see all that we can accomplish.”
Boys Swimming:
With the winter athletics season quickly approaching, one swimmer, Zach Youn ‘26 said, “I am looking forward to my role as a leader on the team and potentially breaking more records.” Last year, Youn had an outstanding season, breaking the 200 free, 100 free, and 100 fly records at LFA. He hopes to break the 50 free, 500 freestyle, and some of his previous records.
