Krish Bahadur ‘26 was announced as Lake Forest Academy’s All School President (ASP) for the 2025-26 academic school year on April 18, 2025. The rising senior delivered an acceptance speech full of gratitude and uplifting attitude for next year during Friday’s morning meeting. He won the election against opponents Jeff Zavelsky ‘26 and Jinki Hong ‘26.
The Spectator interviewed him about his campaign and journey to becoming ASP.
Who is Krish Bahadur?
Krish Bahadur ‘26 is a current junior at Lake Forest Academy. He is a boarding student in Atlass, from Hinsdale, Illinois. Bahadur transferred to LFA his sophomore year after coming from a school with 3,000 kids. He was prompted to transfer due to the size and lack of opportunity at his previous school. Now, Bahadur is integrated in the LFA community in more ways than one. Bahadur serves as the junior class president, runs the LFA student council Instagram account and participates in the lacrosse and track teams at LFA.
What inspired him to run for ASP?
Bahadur said that his love for the community motivated him to run for the position. After transfering to Lake Forest Academy, Bahadur grew to love the tight-knit community he found within his dorm and the people he met. Close friend Rowen Correia had jokingly talked of him applying. They both enjoyed getting to know new people and Bahadur wanted to do it from a leadership position. With an enjoyment for talking to people, coupled with his friends’ encouragement, Bahadur became the Junior Class President. “I have a lot of fun working with StuCo [the Student Council] and dealing with people,” Bahadur said. Knowing he had valuable contributions to give to the school, he was motivated to take on a position of leadership once more, and started his journey of being Lake Forest Academy’s all school president.
What was the process of running for ASP like?
Current All School President Enos Zaah ‘25 told Bahadur he would be a good fit for the ASP position, and from there, Bahadur began his journey. He had one mission: to take initiative. As he got more serious about becoming the president, he talked with Jennifer Madeley, David Atas, Michael Reidy and a few others because he believes their voices carry more weight and are “taken more seriously,” Bahadur said. Although it was hard to balance his personal life, school work, and campaigning, his friends’ support eased the process. He even got help from his grandpa to write the speech Bahadur presented to all of Lake Forest Academy. His approach to the all school president position was unique in his perspective as a boarding student. “As All School President,” Bahadur said, “It is your job to serve the whole community. ASP is different because you need to see and understand a whole perspective of LFA, boarding or day student.”
What are some of Bahadur’s plans as ASP?
In his campaign speech and during the interview, Bahadur discussed a myriad of plans that will impact LFA. A noteworthy plan of Bahadur’s is the implementation of free menstrual products in the girls’ dorms on campus. Having already started talking to the necessary people, Bahadur realizes the process might take longer than expected, but is determined to see results. Another plan of his is reducing the price of laundry for all boarders living on campus — the current price of a full load is $2.50. Bahadur’s goal is a reduction, or full drop of this price. Bahadur did acknowledge that many people would call these plans “dreams,” to which his response was, “I will never hold a thought back in terms of what I want this school to be.” This lens of transparency was further preached when he talked about the importance of, “big dreams and not being afraid to say them, even if it doesn’t happen.” Bahadur wants to encourage “students to get together and use our voices in order to make real change.”
What are his final words for his fellow Caxys?
Bahadur’s hope is that next year, the Lake Forest Academy community will come together as one cohesive community, and that this will change the school’s culture for the better. Bahadur hopes his journey of becoming the next all school president will set an example for younger students that it is important to put yourself out there regardless of what will happen. His final words were, “Next year will be a really good one.”
