Girls Varsity Badminton
Girls Varsity Badminton opened their season with a strong 13–5 win against Glenbrook South High School on March 31. Despite lineup changes that pushed players into unfamiliar positions, the team showed resilience throughout the match. The doubles teams were dominant, and LFA won all five matches that went to three sets, highlighting strong chemistry and determination early in the season. Manager William Xiao ’26 said, “The energy has been really good so far. Everyone’s excited, and it feels like we’re building something strong this season.”
Boys Varsity Volleyball
Boys Varsity Volleyball opened their season with a 2-0 loss against Zion-Benton High School (25-19, 25-17). After falling behind early, LFA rallied to tie the first set before Zion-Benton pulled away late. In the second set, captain Matthew Jun ’26 sparked a 7-0 run from the service line, but Zion-Benton responded to close out the match. Earlier in the week, the team also competed in a five-match tournament, finishing with two wins and three losses against strong competition. Jun said, “I think this year we’re way more connected as a team. Everyone’s putting in effort, and you can feel it during practice and games.” As the season progresses, the team hopes to build on these early experiences and continue improving their overall performance.
Boys Varsity Baseball
The Boys Varsity Baseball team opened their season on April 11 against University High School but were unable to secure a win. In their second game on April 14, LFA fell 4-11 to Francis W. Parker School. Despite the early losses, the team is focused on learning from these challenges and building stronger chemistry as the season continues.
Co-ed Varsity Track
Co-ed Varsity Track delivered a strong performance at The Big Leap meet on April 2. In the boys 400 meters, Astin Choi ’26 placed 2nd overall with a time of 56.31 seconds, while Michael An ’26 finished 3rd in the 100 meters with a time of 12.22 seconds. Choi said, “Track is really about competing against yourself. Right now, it’s about improving every meet and building toward bigger competitions later on.”
Boys Varsity Tennis
Boys Varsity Tennis opened their season with a dominant 5-0 win against North Shore Country Day on April 8. Battling strong winds, the team showed depth across the lineup. Hunter Jones ’28 and Grant Tse ’29 led in singles, while the first doubles team secured a key super tiebreak win, with strong performances across the lineup sealing an impressive start.
Boys Varsity Lacrosse
Boys Varsity Lacrosse opened their season with a close 1-2 loss against Cary-Grove High School. In a penalty-heavy game, the team maintained composure and competed with energy. Quinn Macejko ’26 scored LFA’s first goal of the season. Drew Cobin ’26 said, “We’re still building chemistry, but every game we’re getting better. It’s about learning from mistakes and staying aggressive.” As the season continues, the team aims to build chemistry and turn close games into wins.
Girls Varsity Lacrosse
The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team fell 2-12 to Buffalo Grove High School on April 2. Weather delays disrupted preparation, but LFA came out with strong energy. Lyla Fuery ’28 scored early, and first-time goalie Emily Korkus ’27 recorded 12 saves. Juliet Hausman ’28 added a late goal. Despite the result, the team showed resilience and will look to build on this performance as the season progresses.
Girls Varsity Soccer
Girls Varsity Soccer opened their season with a 0-3 loss against Union Grove High School on April 7. LFA controlled much of the first half with strong midfield play and solid defense before fatigue set in late, leading to goals conceded. The match also featured the debut of four freshmen who made an immediate impact, highlighting the team’s potential as they continue to build chemistry and improve throughout the season.
Girls Varsity Softball
The Girls Varsity Softball team opened their season on April 9 against Latin School of Chicago and followed with another game on April 14 against Francis W. Parker School. Despite early losses, the team is focused on learning from these challenges and building stronger chemistry as the season moves forward.
